COVID-19: May stop Nigeria flights from UAE, Netherlands – Official

 

If they insist on having these supplementary tests being complete, then  (PTF) has take decision that their operations will be balanced into Nigeria.”The Nigerian government has said it may hang flights from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and The Netherlands due to the new COVID-19  protocols introduced by together countries for incoming travelers. The Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Musa  Nuhu,  while speaking at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 briefing on Monday said both countries lately requested that travelers from Nigeria must take out a (PCR) test four hours before departure the country.


“In addition to the requirements are a requirement for( PC0R test before passengers go away from Nigeria to their countries. They are adding an extra requirement of having a rapid test done four hours before exit or before you board,” he said.

 

“For us, passengers do the test 72 hours before leaving and then the PCR test and the PTF recognizes the rights of all countries to put in events to defend their citizens just like Nigeria has done,” Mr Nuhu said.

 

If they insist on having these additional tests organism complete, then PTF has decided that their operations will be balanced into Nigeria.

 

Mr Nuhu said the countries and airlines throughout from there cannot decide for Nigeria who to approve or how these tests will be done.

 

He said the government will be discussing with the airlines and countries that are  involved.

 

This will enable the (PTF) to have a clear and transparent procedure on influential  who will do these test “based on the requirement for accreditation by 9 NCDC0, National Laboratory Council, Lagos state government for Lagos airstrip and FCT for Abuja airport.”
